Head of Infrastructure
Job Summary:
EveryMatrix is a fast-growing B2B software company in the i-gaming space, particularly strong in solutions for casino, payments, sports. We have 400+ staff in 9 offices in Europe and Asia. We are searching for an analytical and experienced technical operation executive to join our company in the role of Head of Infrastructure part of our Technology team, reporting to Group CTO.
The successful hire will manage multiple teams: System Administration, Networking team, Database Systems Team. Overall 20 persons, the majority located in our Bucharest office, our largest office and workplace for the Head of Infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of technically skilled engineers, providing motivation, encouragement, and opportunities for growth and skill development.
- Organize and prioritize team's work efficiently to ensure optimal productivity and delivery of objectives.
- Foster collaboration between the infrastructure team and different Business Units of the company.
- Maintain direct contact with Business Units to understand their requirements and ensure alignment of infrastructure solutions with business needs.
- Work closely with the group Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to define optimal technical and organizational strategies for platform stability, productivity improvement, scalability, and reliability enhancement.
- Define, install, and maintain hardware, network elements, software, and services such as OpenNebula, Proxmox, Kubernetes, RabbitMQ, Redis, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, etc.
- Manage both current and future Data Centers, including those in the cloud, and oversee cloud accounts.
- Negotiate contracts and interact with vendors and service providers, ensuring a positive relationship and effective service delivery.
- Promote and develop a culture of DevOps, automation, high availability, and collaboration within the infrastructure team.
- Encourage collaboration and DevOps principles in interactions with Business Units and other company colleagues.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and tools relevant to infrastructure management.
- Lead the implementation of new technologies to enhance platform stability, scalability, and productivity.
- Implement monitoring systems to track the performance and health of infrastructure components.
- Identify bottlenecks and areas for optimization, and implement solutions to improve performance and efficiency.
- Ensure that security measures are implemented and maintained across all infrastructure components to protect against cyber threats.
- Maintain compliance with relevant regulations and standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, or industry-specific compliance requirements.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity plans to minimize downtime and data loss. Conduct regular tests and drills to ensure the effectiveness of these plans.
- Develop and manage the infrastructure budget, including forecasting future needs and optimizing resource allocation. Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies without compromising performance or reliability.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including executives, IT teams, and end-users.
- Provide regular updates on infrastructure initiatives, project status, and key performance metrics.
- Provide training and professional development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration within the team and across the organization.
- Continuously assess and improve infrastructure processes, tools, and technologies to drive innovation and efficiency.
- Encourage a mindset of continuous improvement and experimentation within the infrastructure team.
Requirements:
- Leadership experience: Team building, motivation, organization of team and work, etc.
- Seasoned IT professional with 10+ years of experience leading and managing large data center operations.
- Relevant experience managing an IT infrastructure/operations team in a fast-paced commercial environment
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficiency in English, written and spoken.
- Technical background: Bachelor’s degree in IT related engineering or computer science. ITIL and other relevant professional certifications.
- Knowledge about methodologies commonly used in IT businesses: Kanban, DevOps, Continuous Delivery.
- Experience working with Data Center providers, private and cloud: defining infrastructure planning and architecture.
- Experience working with vendors, negotiating prices and contracts, and keeping a good relationship with them.
- Knowledge about virtualization and infrastructure software and platforms.
- Strong understanding of data center technologies, including networking, databases, CDNs, load balancers, virtualization, and server management.
