We are looking for Platform Technical Leader to join our team in Bucharest!
About the job:
The Platform Technical Leader (EM3 & PaaS) will define and drive the architecture and technical operating model for EveryMatrix’s next-generation Platform as a Service. The role will enable EM3 and the wider EM2030 transformation through secure, reliable, automated, and self-service platform capabilities that can operate across datacentres and cloud environments at fleet scale.
The role reports to the Platform Engineering Leader and remains within the existing Platform Engineering organization. It will initially have no separate team or direct reports. Delivery will be achieved through technical leadership and dedicated contributors allocated from the existing Platform Engineering streams and specialist teams on a project basis. The role will help shape the future technology-oriented Platform Engineering model and the development of SRE and DevSecOps capabilities without creating a parallel organization.
The successful candidate will initially lead the EM3 and PaaS technical direction without a separate team or direct reporting line. Results will be delivered through architecture ownership, technical leadership, organizational influence, and dedicated capacity allocated from existing teams. The candidate must be able to lead engineers and technical outcomes at scale while people management, capacity ownership, and operational accountability remain with the existing Platform Engineering leadership structure.
Responsibilities:
Define the EM3 and PaaS target architecture, platform principles, roadmap, and reference patterns.
Design the platform control plane, management APIs, desired-state model, and fleet-wide lifecycle-management approach.
Define automated provisioning, configuration, upgrades, patching, recovery, rollback, version compliance, and decommissioning across infrastructure, Kubernetes, and platform services.
Design deployment patterns for single-tenant and smaller multi-tenant environments across datacentres and public cloud.
Establish platform products, self-service interfaces, service catalogue standards, golden paths, and reusable blueprints.
Define reliability standards, service ownership, production readiness, SLI/SLO practices, observability, resilience testing, and the future SRE operating model.
Embed security by default through DevSecOps practices, policy as code, secrets and identity controls, supply-chain security, compliance automation, and automated evidence.
Lead cross-team architectural decisions and align Platform Engineering, Infrastructure, DBA, Networking, Security, Architecture, and Product Engineering.
Define technical acceptance criteria and decision gates for proof of concept, production readiness, lifecycle readiness, security readiness, and operational readiness.
Work with the Platform Engineering Leader on capacity planning, project allocation, skills development, targeted hiring, and the progressive transition to technology-oriented platform domains.
Mentor senior engineers and help develop future Platform Engineering, SRE, and DevSecOps leaders.
Drive outcomes that allow platform scale to grow without proportional growth in manual operational effort.
Own our private cloud infrastructure as a product, setting the technical direction and the roadmap for how it evolves;
Define and publish a service catalogue with clear ownership and clear interfaces, so that provisioning compute, storage, environments and infrastructure is a self-service call for our development teams;
Deliver secure CI/CD as a service, with pipelines, secrets management, access control and compliance controls built into the platform by default rather than added afterwards;
Set, measure and report on SLAs, capacity plans and cost transparency for every service the chapter provides;
Establish the engineering standards of the chapter, including infrastructure as code, peer review, automated testing and observability, and hold the team to them;
Embed AI-assisted engineering in how the chapter works day to day, and measure the effect it has on delivery speed and quality;
Partner with development, architecture and security so that platform capabilities match what our product teams need;
Take accountability for the reliability of the platform, including on-call arrangements, incident response, and post-incident learning.
Requirements:
Proven experience designing, building, or transforming a large-scale internal platform or Platform as a Service capability.
Experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure lifecycle management across multiple clusters, locations, or tenants.
Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, containers, networking, identity, secrets, storage, distributed data services, and observability.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code, GitOps, declarative configuration, reconciliation, platform APIs, and policy-driven automation.
Experience delivering automated upgrades, patching, rollback, recovery, and version management.
Experience defining platform products, self-service services, service ownership, and operating models.
Strong understanding of SRE practices and the design of reliable, observable, production-ready services.
Strong understanding of DevSecOps, software supply-chain security, platform security, and automated compliance controls.
Experience leading complex technical change across multiple teams without direct organizational authority.
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Nice to have:
Experience establishing Platform Engineering, SRE, or DevSecOps capabilities.
Experience with hybrid, on-premises, private-cloud, and public-cloud platforms.
Experience with single-tenant and multi-tenant deployment models.
Experience with Kubernetes fleet management, progressive delivery, upgrade rings, and low-downtime change.
Experience with PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Kafka, Redis, Elasticsearch, or similar distributed services.
Experience in regulated, audited, or high-availability environments.
