QA Engineer / Software Tester

We’re looking for an experienced QA Engineer / Software Tester to join our small but
highly productive development team. You will be the first dedicated tester in the team,
playing a critical role in shaping how we approach quality and testing. Our application isa modern microservices-based system, that includes a web-based back-office for
managing customer data.
You’ll be hands-on manual testing, whilst also establishing scalable QA processes and
introducing automation. Your work will be pivotal in ensuring our product is robust and
ready to grow along with our customer base.
Key Responsibilities
Manual Testing
• Design and execute test cases across back-office user interface, APIs and otehr
critical components
• Undertake a variety of test scenarios, include exploratory, functional, and
regression testing, and provide comprehensive documentation for each
• Identify, document, and track bugs through to resolution
Process & Strategy
• Define and implement testing strategy and processes from the ground up
• Introduce scalable QA practices aligned with CI/CD workflows
• Advocate for quality across the team; coach developers on best practices
• Write and maintain documentation for knowledge sharing across the team
Test Automation
• Evaluate and recommend tools for UI, API, and integration test automation
• Develop and maintain a suite of automated tests to support ongoing
development and releases
• Ensure automated tests provide reliable feedback and confidence before
production releases
Collaboration
• Work closely with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to clarify
requirements and ensure testability
• Participate in planning sessions and contribute to story refinement with a focus
on test coverage
Key Competencies & Skills
o Solid understanding of software testing methodologies (functional,
regression, exploratory, etc.)
o Experience testing both UI and APIs
o Familiarity with testing microservice-based applications is a plus
• Automation Experience
o Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks
o Comfortable writing test scripts and integrating with CI pipelines
o Ability to assess and recommend suitable automation tools for our stack
• Process-Oriented
o Ability to set up test strategies and QA processes from scratch
o Familiarity with Agile development and how testing fits into fast-paced,
iterative development cycles
• Soft Skills
o Clear communicator who can champion quality
o Proactive and independent; comfortable in a role with broad
responsibility and ownership
o Strong collaboration skills and a pragmatic approach to balancing risk
and delivery
Nice to Have
• Experience working as the first QA hire or in early-stage product teams
• Performance and load testing experience
• Familiarity with test data management and mocking tools
• Experience with monitoring and observability to inform testing coverage
Here's what we offer:
- Start with 25 days of annual leave, with 2 additional days added each year, up to 35 days by your fifth year with us.
